Beginning some major dissassembly and checking.

Posted by Ken Lanham on 16th April 2007

I’m in the process of going through the top of the motor and replacing a few things, Improving a few things, and fixing some nagging leaks.

I didn’t have any paper, and my laptop is right here so here is the list of things I need to remember to buy.

    • intake manifold gasket
    • 850 throttle body gasket
    • lifter set, maybe
    • 2 v-band flanges for new downpipe
    • new stainless hardware for exhaust header.
    • non-turbo radiator hoses
    • breather box
    • additional oil separator, I probably will build this myself.
    • turbo drain and feed supplies.

    turbo and header thoughts

Posted by Ken Lanham on 10th April 2007

I started thinking about a new header design for Irene a few weeks ago. You can read about it below. I wanted to add to that a little more. The project is really under way now, and I am faced with the task of actually fitting a turbo, an external wastegate, and a big ball of snake like tubes into the relatively tight area between the engine and the strut tower of a volvo 740. It looks so easy when you see a running car. Here are a couple more pictures I gathered up for ideas. These are actually 16valve 740 Volvos. So they are really close to what I’m going to do.
