In case you didn’t notice, I really like old cars.

I just picked up another fine old European gem. Its a 1990 Audi v8 Quattro. I was really itching to have an all wheel drive car again. My wife likes to gloat about how her Audi TT is SOOOO awesome in the snow. Meanwhile, I’m getting stuck and having to push my Volvos off of ice patches in the mountains all the time. And HEY, who talked my wife to drive in Audi in the First place! That would be me thank you.
Anyway, after searching around for the right combination of coolness-price, sub-a-roooo-just-don’t-like-suubarooo-loook-like-clone-in -colorado-with-subaru, awd-coolness,no-SUV, no-truck,noSUV OWDEEE. Well, I knew I pretty much wanted an Audi. I really liked my 2001 S4, and I was ready for German maintenance annoyances again. Or maybe I have forgotten about them enough. My brain told me to buy something low maintenance for a daily driver. But, you only live once. So its probably not the most logical and economical daily transportation. But, DAMN, its cool. And I can’t wait for the next big snow storm so I can go skiing, right in the middle of the blizzard.
For those that aren’t Audi geeks. Here is the speces.
- AWD system that is so cool. The v8s have torsen diffs in the rear, and center. No locking diff like some of the other audis.. Its smoooth, smooth.
- 3.6L v8 engine. 250 hp. DOHC 32 valve engine. It really sings.
- 4 speed automatic
- Bose stereo system, still works awesome.
- Front and rear heated seats,
- Sport seats in the front with big bolsters.
- All the other goodies that made it Audis flagship luxury/sport sedan in the early 90s
- Here it is. All ready for the winter on studded snow tires. I think this car needs a name too. I need to think about that for a little while.
Too many cars? I don’t know. I kinda like having a backup car.
